Abstract

As gender equality is a democratic priority worldwide and sport is a platform with repercussions for its discussion, this article aims to understand how the Brazilian Football Confederation, the entity responsible for the regulation and administration of Brazilian football, represents gender in its online communication. Using quantitative content analysis, we have systematized 12,836 CBF publications on football and futsal by themes and content formats, on their official online channels, between January 1st and March 31st, 2022. The results reveal the sub-representation of women's football in seven of the eight communication channels studied; and in the eight channels, in the case of futsal. The study aims to contribute to critical studies of digital sports communication involving the notion of gender equality and to research sports communication within the scope of regulatory bodies.
