Abstract

Objectives: A concerning proportion of undergraduate medical students sustain needlestick injuries, which have adverse implications, including anxiety and bloodborne illnesses. However, there is lack of data in the literature on needlestick safety at Canadian medical schools. Therefore, our study sought to determine the prevalence of formal training for undergraduate medical students around safe needle handling, suturing, and protocols for reporting needlestick injuries to Occupational Health across Canadian medical schools.
