Abstract

Objectives: Needlestick injuries among undergraduate medical students are exceedingly common and present a serious cause for concern among educators, particularly due to the adverse implications of these injuries, including anxiety and bloodborne illnesses. Our study seeks to determine students' needle handling efficacy, and examine the prevalence of formal training around needlestick safety and reporting procedures within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Ob/Gyn) rotation at the University of Toronto (UofT).
