Abstract

A theory of tensor fields is shown to be equivalent to a standard gauge theory of fermions plus gravity. The construction is based on a modified Kähler equation. The particle content is determined by the number of dimensions and by possible Majorana and/or Weyl conditions, the latter being required for chiral fermions. Two options for more dimensions are explored: the Kaluza-Klein picture and an embedding picture. The latter yields a gauged family structure with gauge group SO(6) × SO(10).
