Abstract
The gas-tightness of coke-oven doors may be improved by means of a flexible membrane seal in which the edge of the membrane is pressed against the perimeter by a spring; gas-exhaust channels; and separation of the door’s welded housing from the lining module using a sealing frame. This follows from many years of operational experience at two coke batteries equipped exclusively with such doors. A direct-action gate is proposed. The use of such gas-tight doors at coke plants within the Commonwealth of Independent States is recommended.
