Abstract

Zirconium and hafnium present one of the most difficult chromatographic separation problems. This paper reports the first successful gas-liquid chromatographic separation of these elements using volatile metal chelates prepared via the direct reaction of 1,1,1,2,2,3,3-heptafluoro-7,7-dimethyl-4,6-octanedione with the anhydrous halides in CCl4.
