Abstract
Tropinone (tropan-3a-one) is a highly toxic intermediate product in the synthesis of tropine. Therefore its content in tropine is subject to strict regulations (not more than 0.5% according to TU 64-6-59-74). To determine tropine quantitatively, the method of titration in nonaqueousmediais used, one of the disadvantages of which is the influence of moisture and impurities in the compound studied on the results of the analysis. Tropine and tropinone impurities are quantitatively evaluated by semiquantitative methods of paper and thin-layer chromatography.
