Summary

Introduction

The emergence and subsequent development of Buddha statues are largely influenced by foreign cultures and regions. Hinayana Buddhism and Mahayana Buddhism developed independently in India and spread to different regions. “The artists of Gandhara followed the example of Greece in the steps of reform.” [3]Some scholars believe that the subsequent writing of a large number of stories about Buddha, from Buddha’s birth, Buddha’s dissemination of the dharma, to Buddha’s nirvana, was influenced by Greek mythology.
