Abstract

Thermal decomposition of iron-carbonyl complexes in styrene-butadiene block copolymers was studied. It was shown that at the first stage ( T = 200°, τ = 0·5–1·5 hr), complexes of zero-valent iron are formed, connected with two polymer chains; at the second stage, ( T = 220–300°, τ = 1·5–6 hr), further decomposition of the diene-iron tricarbonyl complexes occurs, together with the decomposition of the complexes of zero-valent iron. Gamma resonance and IR spectroscopic methods were used for the identification of the products of the thermal decomposition of the complexes.
