Abstract

This paper discussed the neutron and gamma rays shielding characteristics of PVB/Bi2O3@BaZrO3 nanocomposite films. The EDX, FTIR, and XRD patterns affirmed the successful preparation of the nanocomposite films. The increase of the BaZrO3@Bi2O3 content reduces the films' optical bandgap. While, the Urbach energy values of PVB/Bi2O3@BaZrO3 nanocomposite films enhanced with increasing Bi2O3@BaZrO3 content. Further, we examined the mechanical characteristics of the nanocomposite films. Besides, Phy-X/PSD software was used to compare the experimental gamma-ray attenuation data with theoretical values. Overall, the PVB/(Bi2O3@BaZrO3) composite films are suitable as gamma radiation shielding materials.
