Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is the most common degenerative disease. The prevalence and incidence of this disease have increased drastically in newly industrialized and developing countries, including Indonesia. Nutrition and diabetes have a close relationship. Diet therapy or food management for diabetes sufferers is the start to controlling diabetes. This study aims to analyze the description of diet management in diabetes mellitus patients at the Ngkeran Care Community Health Center, Lawe Alas District, Southeast Aceh Regency. This research method is descriptive with a cross-sectional study approach. Research data collection was carried out from 19 July to 12 August 2019. The population in this study was all diabetes mellitus sufferers who received treatment at the Ngkeran Care Health Center in June 2019 totaling 35 people. The sampling technique used total sampling according to the inclusion criteria set by the researcher. Analysis of data on dietary management in diabetes mellitus patients using frequency distribution analysis. The results of the research showed that the characteristics of the respondents, most of the respondents were in early adulthood, most of the respondents were male, almost all of the respondents had a high school education level and almost all of the respondents had suffered from DM < 5 years and the diet management of diabetes mellitus patients was that the majority were in the good category.
