Abstract

This paper presents a Power Factor Corrected (PFC) Bridgeless Buck Boost Converter-Fed Brushless DC motor(BLDC) drive with trapezoidal back electromotive force (emf) as an increased power quality solution for low power applications. A PFC Bridgeless Buck Boost Converter eliminates the use of diode bridge rectifier and, thus improves the power factor at the ac mains. In this work, conventional PI and fuzzy logic controller has been used for the speed control of BLDC motor drive. The performance of conventional PI and Fuzzy controller is compared under variable reference speed and load disturbance for different parameters of BLDC motor drive. The obtained power quality indices are found within the acceptable limits of power quality standards. The proposed work has been simulated in Matlab/Simulink and the obtained results give a comparative study of the error capability and effectiveness of conventional PI and Fuzzy controller.
