Abstract In this note we discuss the fuzzy equivalence relation generated by a given fuzzy relation on a set X and the fuzzy congruence relation generated by a given fuzzy relation on a semigroup S . We also study the lattice of fuzzy equivalence (congruence) relations on a semigroup and give certain lattice theoretic properties.
