Fuzhengquxie Chinese medicine combined with cisplatin and irinotecan in treatment of cervical cancer

Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical effect of Fuzhengquxie Chinese medicine combined with cisplatin and irinotecan in the treatment of cervical cancer. Methods 62 patients with local advanced cervical cancer treated at our hospital from July, 2012 to June, 2015 were selected as study objects and were divided into an observation group (31 cases) and a control group (31 cases) using random number table method. The control group were treated with cisplatin and irinotecan; in addition, the observation group were treated with Fuzhengquxie Chinese medicine. The clinical efficacy and adverse reactions were compared between these two groups. QOL-C30 was used to assess the patients’ quality of life. Results After the treatment, the total efficacy was 96.77% in the observation group and was 83.87% in the control group, with a statistical difference (P<0.05). The scores of QOL-C30 were better in the observation group than in the control group, with statistical differences (P<0.05). After the treatment, 2 cases got gastrointestinal reaction, 2 bone marrow suppression, and 4 nausea and vomiting in the control group, with a total incidence of adverse reactions of 25.81%; and only 2 cases got nausea and vomiting in the observation group, with a total incidence of adverse reactions of 6.45%; there was statistical difference (P<0.05). Conclusions Cisplatin and irinotecan in the treatment of cervical cancer is significantly effective; and cisplatin and irinotecan combined with Fuzhengquxie Chinese medicine for cervical cancer is more effective, can significantly increase the total clinical efficacy, reduces chemotherapy-induced adverse reactions, and improve the patients' quality of life and is safe and reliable, so it has high value in clinical application and popularization.
