Abstract
This study explores the journey that Great Britain distribution network operators have made over the past 15 years to improve the resilience of their networks to the risks of flooding. It uses case studies from the exceptional flooding events in the north of England in December 2015 to show where those measures have been successful and where further work is needed. It proposes how the lessons learnt from these incidents can be built into future resilience planning and policy on a national level with government and local stakeholders.
