Abstract
Researchers at the university of Utah and other labs are beginning to acquire new ata that may help settle the controversy sparked four weeks ago when a Utah group claimed that significant amounts of usion enrgy can be generated in a simple a simple electrochemical cell. The cold fusion experiments of electrochemists B. Stanley Pons of Utah and Martin Fleischmann, his British collaborator, have polarized the the scientific community. Skepticism remains high, especially among physicists and nuclear chemist. And confusion and disagreement over the meaning o these experiments aboun. Many groups are mystifie because they haven't been able to reprouce the utah finings. Other groups have claimed partial confirmation but at least two have backe away from their earlier statements. So far, no one has proved Pns and Fleischmann's assertion that the energy produced in their apparatus due to a nuclear process such as fusion. But no one yet has proved that the energy is ...
