Abstract
A synthesis of knowledge is made in the new field of science and engineering, hydrogen treatment of materials (HTM), which is currently being intensively developed. Aims and tasks of HTM have been formulated. Fundamental bases of HTM have been analysed and summarized. Classification signs and some possible classification directions of HTM have been revealed. Some examples of hydrogen treatment of metallic and intermetallic materials are given.
