Abstract

Fundamentals of Hand and Wrist Imaging is an illustrated handbook-style book that provides an overview of all modalities used for hand and wrist imaging and all disease entities that can be diagnosed. The intended audience of the book is radiologists, hand surgeons, orthopaedists, traumatologists, rheumatologists and internists. The book addresses the needs of practising physicians and residents. An exceptional group of authors, musculoskeletal radiologists and other experts in their respective fields have contributed to this book. The book is split into three parts. In the first part, the different imaging modalities are discussed. Conventional radiography, magnetic resonance imaging and also interventional techniques like arthrography are presented. The second part deals with different disease entities. Congenital defects, malformations and dysplasias are described after a chapter presenting the normal development of the hand. A large chapter covers endocrine disorders involving the hand. Other chapters refer to degenerative and rheumatic diseases, osteoporosis, infections, tumours of the hand and wrist, trauma and instability of the wrist. The third part describes specific conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, vascular disorders, osteonecrosis, and ungual and subungual disease.
