Abstract

A polymer plasmonic waveguide for second harmonic generation (SHG) from mid-infrared (MIR) to near-infrared (NIR) is proposed. The required phase matching condition (PMC) is satisfied between the fundamental plasmonic mode at the fundamental frequency (FF) and the photonic mode at the second harmonic frequency (SHF). According to our simulations, the SHG conversion efficiency of 4.173% can be obtained in 92.3 μm length waveguide with 1 W pump power. Moreover, the conversion can be further enhanced by using a microring resonator (MRR). By optimizing the MRR, the SHG conversion efficiency can be increased to 26.1%. The proposed scheme can be a potential approach for MIR and NIR wavelength conversion and quantum signal processing.
