Abstract
Previous studies established an essential role for Small Conductance Calcium Activated Potassium(SK) channels in cardiac dysrhythmias, especial in atrial dysrhythmias. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), an endogenously generated gaseous transmitter, has recently been suggested to regulate cardiovascular function. In the present study, we aim to investigate whether H2S activity might affect function and expression of SK channel via intrinsic signaling pathway with or without high glucose induction. Using multiple molecular approaches and patch clamping techniques, we investigated the mechanisms underlying cardiac protective effects of H2S on SK channel activity in atrial myocytes under diabetic condition, as well as on SK channel expression.
