Abstract
The manufacturing of the materials used in building construction is an energy-intensive process, which justifies the necessary analyzes aimed to highlighting the ways to reduce energy consumption. This paper is based on the results of energy audits (EA) performed on processes typical of a company, which produces the following construction materials: polystyrene, dry mortars and paints. The developed EA was an extended one, including all forms of energy, all energy agents and all technological lines within the 3 platforms of the analyzed company. The paper presents a synthesis of the results of EA and Energy Efficiency Improvement Program (PIEE), highlights, for each process, from each platform and with reference to the two main energy carrier agents (methane gas and electricity), the optimal level of production, identified by applying the criterion “minimum specific energy consumption”.
