Abstract

This is a very concise description of anatomical features of newborn infant, divided into some 60 subject headings such as heart, bronchi and alveoli, larynx, and eye, to name a few. The author, contending that the newborn infant is not a miniature adult had found such description lacking in literature and contends it to be needed by all those who evaluate newborns. There are no references; three figures accompany text. One is a line drawing of skeleton, others are topographic drawings of major viscera, frontal and midsagittal views. The author, who is professor of anatomy at Yale, is an experienced writer with a concise, clear style.
