Abstract
A common method for repairing edges of turbine fan blades is to apply material by welding and successive re-contouring using a milling process. Due to deformation of the used part, the initial design data from CAD cannot be applied for tool path planning. Therefore, this paper presents an innovative method for the automated function-optimised generation of an adapted target model. For this, the CAD model is described as a b-spline-face. The face is adapted to the worn-out geometry using a restricted pole translation in order to maintain necessary geometric aspects that improve the engine’s efficiency.
