Abstract

In a number of significant ways the UK plastics processing industry is being supported by materials research which is largely academic. It is perhaps no exaggeration to say the industry is scarcely taking due advantage of this technical backing and is not gaining that better understanding of material behaviour, as it applies to its products, which is essential for greater competence and a sounder future.
