Abstract
Testicular androgen binding protein (ABP) is produced by the testis (1–3), presumably by the Sertoli cells, secreted into the testicular fluid and carried to the epididymis by way of the efferent ducts. ABP is completely dependent on FSH stimulation; it disappears rapidly after hypophysectomy and is dramatically stimulated by FSH (4), but not by LH or androgen alone. In the hypophysectomized rat, the accumulation of ABP in response to FSH is greatly enhanced by treatment with androgen.
