Abstract
Abstract Fruit of loquat (Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.) grew slowly after set in autumn and quickly toward ripening in spring. A positive correlation was found between seed weight and fruit or pulp wieght, but there was only a weak or no positive correlation between number of seeds and fruit weight. The pattern of fruit growth was similar in ‘Tanaka’ and ‘Akko 1’. Thinning increased fruit size.
