Abstract
Peroxynitrite (ONOO−) is one of the most important reaction oxygen species. The aberrant fluctuation of ONOO− is closely intertwined with various physiological and pathological processes. In this Review, we mainly focus on the small-molecule ratiometric fluorescent probes for ONOO− in biological systems. The chemical structure, response mechanism and biological application of these probes as well as the challenges and prospects for constructing new ONOO− responsive fluorescent probes were presented.
