Abstract
The cover picture shows arrangements of anthracene crystals: structural phase transitions in anthracene crystals have recently attracted much interest in a wide range of research areas in materials science. This Review discusses the engineering of anthracene, including its synthetic design, reactivities, and optical properties toward structural phase transitions of the crystals.
