Abstract
ABSTRACT Purpose The Great Wall encapsulates a rich historical legacy and symbolises the nation's cultural pride and resilience. Its study is not just an academic pursuit but fostering a vibrant global cultural ecosystem. Design/methodology/approach We harness scientific metrics and topic modelling for a temporal examination, revealing the intricate web of themes. The Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model, augmented by text visualisation techniques, further dissects the thematic metamorphosis of the Great Wall's cultural narrative. Findings Our analysis delineates six thematic clusters that define the Great Wall culture discourse: historical and cultural significance, humanistic landscape, cultural tourism experience, cultural industry, social value, and a comprehensive macroscopic view. The cultural industry and geopolitical considerations emerge as critical forces in the cultural legacy's evolution, with the former driving modern integration and innovation, and the latter promoting global cultural synergy and shared human destiny. Originality/value The insights provided herein offer valuable theoretical frameworks and practical strategies for the enhancement of Chinese cultural traditions, thereby enriching the tapestry of global cultural diversity.
