Abstract
This study compares the performance of Adhoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol in Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) environment obtained by simulation with that from a testbed of three nodes on the basis of Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), No. of Routing Packets (Routing Load) and Round Trip Time (RTT). The simulation is run using ns-2.34 simulator with changing physical layer environment for Lognormal Shadowing and ITU-indoor Channel conditions (newly added in simulation environment) for Line of Sight (LoS) and Non Line of Sight (NLOS) scenarios. Three topology conditions (i.e. a- static b- Tx-moving and c- Tx and Rx moving) were tested during testbed and simulation runs. Results indicate that PDR with simulation results remains unchanged for three scenarios in LoS situation however there is degradation in PDR as mobility is involved in scenarios. Network suffers with much higher delay (i.e. RTT) in reality than in simulation. However routing load is much higher with simulation than with testbed measurements in NLoS scenario.
