Abstract

Faculty encounter difficulties conducting Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) due to the lack of familiarity with methodologies. To address gaps in knowledge, faculty were provided a "SoTL in 60" series, a Summer Scholarship Institute (SSI) expanded to pair faculty with a data analysis mentor, and a new standalone SoTL Fellows Program. After participating in the SSI Data Analysis program, faculty reported significant gains in comfort with the SoTL research methodologies, assessments, and IRB protocols. SSI participants also reported significant progress on manuscript preparation toward promotion and tenure requirements, supporting this project as an effective model for SoTL professional development at other teaching intensive institutions. Finally, challenges and accountability structures needed for successful scholarship programming are discussed.
