Abstract
The work points out the presence of not always conscious prerequisites from which researchers of the “management style” proceed in their theoretical and methodological constructions. The author expresses his disagreement with Buffon regarding his phrase “The style is the man himself”, which has gained wide popularity by now. Buffon’s speech reveals productive contradictions of a metonymic and structural-logical nature, which allow the author of the article to raise previously unanswered questions regarding the essence of the concept of “style” and its particular manifestation in the format of “management style”. It is pointed out that style can be considered in terms of the presence of places of functional emptiness in it. Their (quantity, size, location, capacity, plasticity, etc.) as well as the “stylistic substance” in which they are included have an individual character for their bearer.
