Abstract
Friction stir welding is an important topic within ISIM Timisoara, with several research projects being implemented in this field. Friction stir welding in liquid working environment aims to avoid overheating of the welding tool and device during the joining process and achieve better results compared to FSW welding in ambient environment. The paper presents results obtained by ISIM Timisoara in the framework of a national research project (in progress), regarding the friction stir welding in liquid environment (SFSW) of the EN AW 1200 aluminum alloy. The experimental research aimed at an analysis of the SFSW welded joints for the EN AW 1200 aluminum alloy, made with four different welding tool geometries, under the same working conditions regarding the FSW welding machine and the technological process parameters.
