Abstract

On 6th December 2006, the British Airports Authority (BAA) introduced a trial programme at Heathrow airport. Passengers could avoid long queues in return for having their fingerprints, faces and eyes biometrically scanned. BAA believes that by offering passengers what is effectively an electronic key, it will be able to process them more quickly while enhancing airport security.
