Abstract

This book reviews current advances in the physics and technology of free electron lasers (FELs), and reports the results of recent experiments and new trends in theory. It covers such areas as fundamentals, operating in the Compton regime, operating in the Raman regime, optical klystrons, accelerator and magnet technologies related to design, and applications in photochemistry. It constitutes the proceedings of the 7th Course on Physics and Technology of Free Electron Lasers of the International School of Quantum Electronics held in Italy in 1980.
