Abstract

The paper deals with the free-convection of Rayleigh-Berard of a Newtonian fluid with allowance for vertical stratification in 2D cell. A closed mathematical model of free convection of an inhomogeneous fluid is suggested under the assumption of a linear dependence of the liquid density on temperature, impurity concentration and salinity. It is shown numerically that the initial inhomogeneity of the liquid, in particular the density along the height, leads to complication of the process of free convection in the form of formation of layered structures.
