Abstract

The field of mixed methods research is very complex as it intentionally combines different research approaches associated with different researchers, disciplines, and conventions. To help navigate this complexity, scholars have developed conceptual frameworks that identify key concepts within the field of mixed methods research and describe the relationships among them. The aim of this chapter is to introduce and distinguish different types of frameworks for conceptualizing mixed methods research and to illustrate how readers can apply a socio-ecological framework for mixed methods research within their own educational research practice.
