Abstract

In the past two decades, the connotation, assessment method, assessment indicators, data source and monitoring means of marine sustainable development have been developing continuously. A systematic review of the assessment of marine sustainable development is helpful to clarify the characteristics and trends of this study and provide guidance for follow-up research. Taking marine sustainable development assessment as the key word, this study analyzes the conceptual framework and evaluation framework system of marine sustainable development by extensively searching several online databases and adopting the method of systematic review. According to the researchers' understanding of different levels of sustainable development and their relationships, the concept of marine sustainable development is summarized, and the conceptual framework of two-dimensional, three-dimensional, four-dimensional and five-dimensional levels is put forward and explained. Based on the framework of marine sustainable development assessment, including assessment objectives, assessment methods, assessment scope, data collection, analysis of assessment results and policy recommendations, this study summarizes previous studies, highlights the characteristics of each link in the process of marine sustainable development assessment, points out the limitations of contemporary research literature and problems that need to be solved in the future, and puts forward suggestions for future research.
