Abstract

A short review on high-energy fragmentation reactions with halo nuclei is given. Deviations from the general dependence of the matter and the charge radii on the atomicmass are interpreted as an evidence for a halo structure. Furthermore, kinematically complete experiments yield structural information on halo nuclei. However, in some cases, the interplay of nuclear structure and the reaction mechanism makes the analysis ambiguous. This is demonstrated by the example of “hump” structures in invariant mass spectra. Finally, the momentum distributions can be used to determine general halo properties, while interference effects in angular correlations allow to gain more detailed information.
