Abstract

There is a presence of aerosols that come from the Sahel (Africa) in the Amazonian atmosphere and are maximum in the atmosphere in the months of February to April, coinciding with the humid season in the central Amazon region (MARTIN et al., 2010). The transport of this particulate matter from Africa to the Central Amazon only occurs when the ITCZ (Intertropical Convergence Zone) is south of Manaus (ANSMANN et al., 2009; BEN-AMI et al., 2010; RIZZOLO et al., 2017 ).
