Abstract

ABSTRACTFractured is a two-person performance that engages the topic of hydraulic fracturing as a subject of analysis and an analytic framework. The script investigates the ways in which contemporary performances of environmentalism and capitalism are inextricably bound to each other within the discourse of “fracking,” and as such each section of the script identifies a struggle to define and represent “fracking” for the general public. The goal of this performance text is to advocate for a critical understanding of America’s investment in “fracking” while persuading audiences of the need for sustainable energy.
