Abstract

We have been able to demonstrate progress in Fourier Transform Infrared Reflection-Absorption Spectroscopy (FT-IRRAS) by incorporating a switching circuit into the data acquisition electronics of an air-equilibrated IBM IR/98 FTIR Spectrometer such that it is possible to obtain simultaneously both reference and polarization modulated spectrum. These spectra ratio to produce good discrimination against gas-phase species. The operating principles of this approach and sample FT-IRRAS spectra of monolayer assemblies of cadmium arachidate adsorbed on silver will be discussed.
