Abstract

In order to obtain knowledge on the secondary electron (SE) emission from solids bombarded by multiply charged ions, we investigate the total yield and the energy distribution of secondary electrons on the basis of the dielectric procedure and the three-step model. The relation between the yield of secondary electrons and the inelastic stopping power for partially stripped ions is discussed from several points of view. Some comments are given on a comparison of the calculated SE yields with respect to recent experimental results.
