Abstract

The new ligand, formylferrocene 2-thenoyl hydrazone (HFfth) and some of its bivalent transition metal complexes have been prepared. The complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivities, IR, NMR, UV, ESR and thermal analyses. In all the complexes, the ligand acts as bidentate donor coordinating to the metal ion via the azomethine nitrogen and enolic oxygen. The redox properties of the complexes have been studied by cyclic voltammetry.
