Abstract

Bivalent transition metal complexes of the new ligand formylferrocene 5–phenyloxazole-2–carbonylhydrazone (HFfoh) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivities, i.r., n.m.r., u.v. spectra and thermal analyses. In all the complexes, the ligand coordinates to the metal ion via the azomethine nitrogen and enolic oxygen as a bidentate donor to give [MOAc(Ffoh)]nH2O, where OAc− also acts as a bidentate ligand.
