Abstract
Psoriasis is a widely spread skin disorder occurring due to overgrowth of skin layers at a certain area of body. The marketed preparations are prescribed based on such target like lotion for scalp and ointment for other body parts. Such can now be overcome using this pH responsive hydrogel which before applying to targeted site has viscosity and consistency of viscus lotion but get viscosity increased after stimulus by pH of skin to that of ointment. This behavior of pH responsive hydrogel enables longer duration of contact of formulation with targeted skin area. The formulated pH responsive hydrogel showed satisfactory results for viscosity, pH, rheology, % drug content, spreadability, appearance, greediness and invitro drug release. All the results were noted down and were in acceptable limits. Further study is need in human and animal trials to successfully launch the formulation for patients use.
