Abstract

Objective. The objective of the article is to study the level of plagiarism in modern conditions, to pay detailed attention to the level of plagiarism in research work of institutions of higher education (IHE) of Ukraine and to compare it with the level of plagiarism among EU countries. The author pays attention to the substantiation of views and theoretical approaches that could comprehensively improve the situation with the level of plagiarism in Ukrainian IHE, determination of the practical aspects of the implementation of these measures, characteristics and practical application in the work of programs that check the content of plagiarism in research and bringing the relevance of programs to the level of plagiarism not only in scientific articles of IHE students, but also in any research articles. Methods. The solution of the tasks is carried out by using such methods as analysis and generalization of scientific, popular science literature to determine the level of plagiarism both in IHE and in Ukraine as a whole, research of available methods to determine the level of plagiarism and possible methods of solving this problem and indicating ways to implement the verification system. Results. To improve the situation with the level of plagiarism in students’ research work we should carefully check the uniqueness of these works, encourage students to do their own research, allocate sufficient time to complete the task, the student must see the goal and achieve it during the research. In turn, each university should be provided with a free program that will perform high-quality and fast testing of works for the level of uniqueness. Not only works available on the Internet should be tested, but also the works that will be written by students and entered into the university database.
