Abstract

In article number 2200625, Jian-bo Xie reviews the forms and roles of Bismuth in steel. Bismuth is used in free-cutting steels; however, the morphology of sulfide in steel has an effect on steel machinability. The morphologies of sulfides in as-cast steel were in clustering, spherical, ellipsoidal, and spindle shapes, while just the clustering sulfide has a bad effect on machinability. Most bismuth particles in steel are in isolated form, and others adhere to sulfides.
