Abstract

Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation is a rare congenital anomaly. Diagnosis is rarely made in early pregnancy. We report the case of a full-term neonate with cerebral vascular dilatation seen on antenatal Doppler ultrasound at 30 weeks. There were also signs of cardiac failure. Antenatal diagnosis of vein of Galen malformation was suspected. Fetal MRI could not be performed. Medical termination of pregnancy was suggested but was not accepted by the parents. The infant was delivered vaginally at 41 weeks. He presented with growth restriction and cardiac failure. The infant died a few hours later due to severe cardiac failure. Diagnosis of the malformation was confirmed by autopsy findings.
