Abstract

Abstract The discovery of a hystrichosphere microfauna in a Devonian reef formation has posed a problem concerning the conditions leading to the association of supposedly planktonic forms and reef forms. Similar associations are known from the Gotlandian (Silurian) and Carboniferous localities. The probable environment of the association is tentatively formulated.
